OTTAWA – Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville-Wainwright, is pleased to announce the launch of the “Proud to be Canadian campaign” in the riding of Vegreville-Wainwright.
“The objective of this campaign is to have as many households in Canada as possible display the Canadian flag during the days leading up to and including July 1st,” explained Benoit. “In addition, ridings that participate in the campaign are being entered into a contest for the title of Most Patriotic Riding in Canada. The riding with the highest percentage of residences displaying a Canadian flag on Canada Day will be declared the winner and will be announced in the House of Commons when Parliament resumes in the fall.”
Benoit said participation in the campaign is easy, and constituents should look for the Canadian flag in his summer householder. “Cut out the flag and display it in your window or door so it is visible. Then complete the accompanying reply card, indicating your participation in the program, and mail it to my office, postage free.” Benoit added that the level of participation in each riding will be measured using the reply cards that are returned.
“I encourage all constituents to take part in the ‘Proud to be Canadian Campaign,’” concluded Benoit. “Let’s show Canada that Vegreville-Wainwright is the most patriotic riding in the country!”
