OTTAWA – Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville-Wainwright, extended his congratulations to Tyson Phillips, a young man from Vegreville-Wainwright, who will be attending the upcoming G-20 summit in Toronto from June 25-27.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Tyson,” Benoit said today. “I wish him the best of luck as he prepares to attend these important meetings.”
Phillips, a native of Beauvallon, near Myrnam, is currently studying biology at the Canadian University College. However, his passion for politics led him to participate in a series of model G-8 and G-20 meetings, which were held in Ottawa at the end of May. Three weeks ago, he was selected from an exclusive group of participants to attend the G-20 Summit this weekend.
“Tyson’s opportunity reminds us of the importance of the G-8 and G-20 meetings,” Benoit noted. These meetings will deal with vital global issues, including the economy, development, democracy, peace and security. In addition, they will provide international media exposure for Canada, and will showcase all that our country has to offer as a gracious host and a fantastic tourist destination.”
“Canada is ready to host these world class summits,” Benoit concluded. “I would like to congratulate Tyson on his accomplishment, and I wish him the best as he attends the G-20 summit, which will have a beneficial impact for Canada on the global stage.”
