I want to send Christmas greetings and cheer from my family to yours. For Canadians, Christmas is one of the most important times of the year. It is a time to gather with friends and family to reflect on our faith, rekindle family traditions or simply relax.

This year, I encourage each of you to step back from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and find a quiet moment to embrace the simple joys of Christmas – the sound of a favourite carol, the twinkle of coloured lights on the snow, the laughter of children, the scent and flavour of home-cooked meals.

As Canadians, we approach the holiday season and the end of 2007 from a position of peace and prosperity. May this goodwill and good fortune flourish and grow in 2008. From my family to yours, I wish you a joyous Christmas and bright and prosperous New Year!
