CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN VEGREVILLE-WAINWRIGHT SENIORS
OTTAWA  (31 March 2009)  –  “I am very pleased to advise that twelve seniors’ centres through the Vegreville-Wainwright constituency will be receiving funding under the New Horizons for Seniors (NHS) Program,”  announced Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament.

Benoit explains that the New Horizons for Seniors Program is aimed at helping to ensure seniors are able to benefit from and contribute to the quality of life in their communities through social participation and active living.

“Under the New Horizons Program, seniors groups and organizations can apply for funding to ensure that seniors have access to safe and adequate facilities to carry on with activities,” says Benoit.  “I would like to remind organizations in my riding that the Program also provides grant funding up to $25,000 to non-profit organizations for projects that encourage seniors to share their skills, wisdom and experience with their communities. Our Government is very committed to ensuring that seniors enjoy their retirement years and that our communities do not lose the wealth of experience they have to offer.”

“The Centres listed below have successfully applied for funding for various projects, repairs and necessary renovations to help seniors in their areas,” explains Benoit.  “I want to congratulate them for their work, and look forward to hearing of the successful completion of these, and other, anticipated projects. Well done!”
