OTTAWA – Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville-Wainwright, said he was pleased to see the Auditor General report that the Conservative Government’s Economic Action Plan was successfully implemented. “The Auditor General in effect gave our government an A plus in the management of our Economic Action Plan.”
“To better protect Canadian families and workers from the worst global recession in generations, our Conservative Government delivered Canada’s Economic Action Plan” explained Benoit. “To ensure the program created jobs and stimulated economic growth as soon as possible, it was essential to get the money out the door and shovels in the ground in a timely and effective manner.”
Benoit stressed that his Conservative Government did not want a repeat of the Liberal sponsorship scandal. “Millions of dollars were funnelled to Liberal-friendly firms for little to no work under the previous Liberal Government, and we were determined never to let that be repeated” Benoit said. “The Auditor General confirmed we were successful, reporting that our Conservative Government acted quickly and effectively in the design and implementation of the Economic Action Plan.”
“While our government welcomes this positive report on our performance, it is important to remember that the economic recovery is still fragile” concluded Benoit. “There are still far too many families struggling to make ends meet, and that is why our Conservative Government will continue to focus on creating jobs and supporting families through the completion of the Economic Action Plan.”
