Government of Canada supports accessibility for all Canadians
August 04, 2011

Mannville, AB (August 4, 2011)—Organizations can now apply for funding for projects that will create or enhance accessibility for people with disabilities through the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund.

Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville - Wainwright, today invited organizations to submit proposals for small projects. Improvements may include renovations, construction and retrofitting of buildings, modification of vehicles for community use or enhancements to make information and communication technologies more accessible.

“We recognize the abilities of all Canadians and celebrate the progress we have made towards the full inclusion of people with disabilities,” said Mr. Benoit. “Through the Enabling Accessibility Fund, the Government of Canada is improving access to facilities, activities and services and enabling all Canadians to participate fully in society.”

The call for proposals was launched by the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, on July 22, 2011. Organizations can submit proposals until September 23, 2011, through the Fund’s Small Project Component. Organizations can receive up to $50,000 per project.
