Government of Canada to announce an important wood bison conservation project with Russia

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, February 11, 2011 ― On behalf of the Honourable Peter Kent, Canada’s Environment Minister and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville—Wainwright, will be joined by representatives from the Republic of Sakha, Russia, to highlight the upcoming transfer of 30 wood bison from Elk Island National Park, Alberta to Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
