Leon Benoit MP Announces Funding for Vegreville Pysanka Festival
VEGREVILLE –   Leon Benoit, Conservative Member of Parliament for Wainwright-Vegreville today announced funding for the Vegreville Pysanka Festival to celebrate and support the local arts and heritage of Vegreville.

“My congratulations go out to the many organizers and volunteers of the Vegreville Cultural Association for their dedication and hard work,” said Benoit. “This is the 39th year for the festival and it promises, once again, to be an outstanding celebration of Ukrainian/Canadian culture. I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy Vegreville’s great hospitality and the flavours, sights and sounds of our proud heritage.”

“Our Government received a strong mandate from Canadians to invest in organizations that support local artists, like the Vegreville Cultural Association,” said the Honourable James Moore Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. “By supporting this organization, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy and support our arts, culture and heritage.”

The Vegreville Cultural Association has received funding of $8,900 to help present its Vegreville Pysanka Festival which will take place from July 6 to 8, 2012.

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities through the Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
