OTTAWA – “I am very pleased to advise that the Myrnam Senior Citizen’s Centre will be receiving funding under the Community Participation and Leadership area of the New Horizons for Seniors (NHS) Program,” announced Leon Benoit, Member of Parliament for Vegreville-Wainwright.
Benoit explains that the New Horizons for Seniors Program is aimed at helping to ensure seniors are able to benefit from and contribute to the quality of life in their communities through social participation and active living.
“Under the NHS, the Community Participation and Leadership Funding provides grant funding up to $25,000 to non-profit organizations for projects that encourage seniors to share their skills, wisdom and experience with their communities,” says Benoit.
““The Government of Canada has recognized the efforts of the Myrnam Senior Citizen’s Centre and awarded them $19,275 towards their project funding. The Centre’s seniors have plans which will see them work with children, youth and volunteers in the community on various projects – including a soap box derby!” continues Benoit. “I want to congratulate the Centre for their work, and look forward to hearing of the successful completion of these, and other, anticipated projects. Well done!”
